Magic Cap System
$1,699.00
Description
The Magic Cap System is a wireless firing and signaling platform designed for IED training lanes and live-fire exercises. It allows bomb technicians and range operators to remotely initiate training aids, penalty indicators, and blast simulators from improvised device scenarios — providing immediate, objective feedback during training evolutions.
How It Works
The system consists of compact Magic Cap transmitter units and a paired receiver. Each Magic Cap has two non-polar wire leads and is activated by applying 9–12V — making it easy to integrate into any training device circuit as a realistic initiator surrogate. When a Magic Cap fires, the receiver instantly identifies which cap was activated, displaying the cap number on its LED screen and logging the event in sequence.
Receiver Outputs
The Magic Cap Receiver provides two independent outputs triggered on each fire command:
- 12V Voltage Output — Binding post terminals supply 12V for approximately 2 seconds, ideal for driving penalty sirens, strobe lights, or other secondary training indicators
- Closed Contact Switch — A universal aviation connector provides a normally open contact closure, purpose-built for integration with Improvised Electronics blast simulators including the MK-17X Blast Simulator and the BOOMBOX
When purchased with an IE blast simulator, the aviation connector comes pre-configured for direct plug-and-play operation with the MK-17X or BOOMBOX — no additional wiring required.
Features
- Paired transmitter/receiver system — each receiver only responds to its designated Magic Cap units
- LED display shows armed status, fire events, and a scrolling log of all activations in sequence
- Safe/Arm switch on the receiver prevents accidental output activation
- Rechargeable battery with LED charge indicator
- Non-polar Magic Cap leads simplify integration into training device circuits
- Compact, rugged construction for field use
Training Applications
- IED training lanes — integrate Magic Caps into training devices as initiator surrogates that trigger blast effects from the MK-17X or BOOMBOX when a device is activated
- Penalty/consequence systems — drive audible or visual indicators when a training device is inadvertently initiated during render-safe procedures
- After-action review — the receiver’s sequential log identifies which devices were activated and in what order
