This IED Electronics Workshop will be conducted in our San Diego Training Facility on the following dates:

In this workshop, Students will:

  • Identify the schematic symbols for a different types of resistors
  • Determine a fixed resistor’s value (color code)
  • Identify variable resistors
  • Use resistors in a circuit
  • Describe how relays are used in an electrical circuit
  • Recognize the schematic symbol for a relay
  • Discus how relays are configured in an IED circuit
  • Discuss how a battery is used within an IED
  • Identify the schematic symbol for a battery
  • Determine the total voltage available when batteries are placed in series and parallel
  • Explain internal resistance of batteries
  • Describe how capacitors are used in an electrical circuit
  • Recognize the schematic symbol of a capacitor
  • Discuss how capacitors are configured in an IED circuit
