Hands-On sUAS Training for Bomb Technicians

Small unmanned aerial systems are no longer a niche threat — they are a daily operational reality for public safety bomb squads, military EOD units, and federal teams. Render-safe approaches now require knowing how the platform thinks, where its data lives, and how its release mechanism is wired. Improvised Electronics’ training courses build that knowledge from the workbench up.

Both courses are delivered as Mobile Training Teams — we travel to your unit with all parts, kits, and curriculum materials, and you walk out with hardware your students built themselves. CONUS-hosted delivery at our San Diego facility is also available at lower cost.

Course Tiers

The $24,999 sUAS Construction Build Class is a 1-week, 10-student MTT covering foundational electronics, improvised initiation systems, full FPV and loitering-style drone construction, and inert payload release with integrated improvised firing switches. Each student walks out with a flight-ready quad they assembled, their own radio transmitter, and their own analog FPV goggles.

The $49,999 sUAS Construction & Autonomy Course is a 2-week, 10-student MTT that includes Week 1 in full plus open-source autonomous flight control, persistent ground-state and X-ray-layered training platforms (render-safe approach training), and forensics & data exploitation. Ten professional-grade bench stations — soldering station, hot-air rework, bench multimeter, variable PSU, pocket scope and logic analyzer per station — stay at your unit after the course.

What’s Included

Both courses include all parts, kits, and consumables for 10 students; lead instructor travel, lodging, and per-diem (two-instructor upgrade available for a 5:1 student ratio); APO/CONUS shipping consolidated through Improvised Electronics San Diego; printed lab guides, curriculum materials, and STL files for inert payloads; and a post-course AAR with a digital training reference package. Class size scales to 12 with a second instructor at additional cost.

Procurement & Lead Time

Improvised Electronics is an SDVOSB on GSA Contract 47QRAA24D0055 (UEI NX6AA1JY7UF4, CAGE 5TWW5). We accept POs with NET30 terms. Standard lead time is 8 weeks from PO to class start — this includes 4–6 weeks for component sourcing, 2 weeks for international consolidation and APO/CONUS shipping, plus a buffer for pre-class sample testing of any flight-critical components.
